New arrivals touch down every day hunting bigger and better opportunities, and they bring a variety of important skills and expertise to the workforce. But even the most highly qualified and experienced migrants can have difficulty finding work in Australia if their skills are not properly recognised or understood by employers.

What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process that allows migrants to have their professional skills and knowledge officially recognised by a registered trade organisation (RTO) in Australia. Whether you have learned a trade through life experience, spent decades honing your profession or earned qualifications from overseas education, RPL is a fantastic pathway to finding work and establishing a career in your new country.

How can I get qualified through RPL?

At Skills Certified, there are four steps to earning a qualification through RPL:

Step 1: An experienced representative performs a quick check of your skills and qualifications, free of charge and at no obligation.

Step 2: We help create your Experience Portfolio complete with evidence of your skills and qualifications including references, certificates, resumes and photos and videos of you performing tasks.

Step 3: One of our partnering RTOs has a qualified assessor to evaluate the Experience Portfolio and assess whether you meet the requirements to qualify for RPL.

Step 4: If deemed competent by the assessor for the required units of competency, you will be awarded the relevant qualification by the RTO.
