Last year the National Skills Commission (NSC) released a 5 year projection for jobs growth in Australia, and the outlook is good for skilled workers.

Growth in jobs by industry

According to NSC data, the two highest industries for growth will be:

  • health care and social assistance (which includes careers like aged and disability care) with 301,000 new jobs, and
  • professional, scientific and technical services (which includes careers like technicians and trades), with 206,000 new jobs.

Growth in jobs by occupation group

This is where the NSC predicts the 6 highest growing occupation groups will be:

  • Professionals 14.7%
  • Community and personal services 13.5%
  • Managers 9.2%
  • Labourers 6.9%
  • Technicians and Trades 6.1%
  • Machinery operators 4.7%

The NSC predicts more than 9 out of 10 jobs will require further study out of school.

What does this mean?

If you work in one of these industries, now is the perfect time to consider getting formal recognition for your skills using Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

RPL is a process that allows you to have your existing skills and knowledge assessed, regardless of how you acquired them. This is particularly beneficial for individuals who have years of work experience but no formal qualifications. With RPL, you can obtain a qualification that reflects your current skill level, allowing you to progress in your career or change to a different industry.

How RPL can help you get ahead in your career

Getting formal recognition for your skills can help you get ahead in your career in several ways. It can improve your employability and make you stand out from other candidates when applying for jobs. It can also increase your chances of being promoted within your current organisation or being considered for new opportunities within the industry.

Skills Certified makes the RPL process easy for you. We’ll discuss your skills and help you work out the best qualification for you.  We’ll help you put together a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your skills and knowledge.  And we’ll then match you with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) who can provide you with a nationally recognised certification.

If you work in one of the fast-growing industries or occupations mentioned above, don’t miss the opportunity to get ahead in your career by getting formal recognition for your skills with RPL.
